Geely and Chery "pincer attack": BYD to fight a dual-front battle in 2026

Caixin: In 2025, Chery Automobile achieved revenue of 300.29 billion yuan and net profit of 19.51 billion yuan, representing year-on-year growth of 11.3% and 36.1%, respectively. On March 18, Chery Automobile (09973.HK) released its first post-listing financial report, disclosing these figures.

Geely Automobile (00175.HK) also released its financial report on the same day, showing that in 2025, Geely achieved revenue of 345.23 billion yuan and net profit of 16.63 billion yuan, up 25% and 2% year-on-year.

Both Chery and Geely are major domestic automakers and strong competitors to BYD (002594.SZ), the industry sales champion in 2025. In 2025, BYD sold 4.602 million vehicles, a 7.7% increase year-on-year. Geely and Chery sold 3.025 million and 2.631 million vehicles, respectively, with year-on-year growth of 39% and 8%.
