"Exploring the True Questions in AI Rule of Law Research (Season 2)" Symposium Successfully Held
On March 19, the seminar “Exploring the Real Issues in AI Legal Governance (Season 2)” was successfully held online. The event was jointly organized by the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Law at China University of Political Science and Law and other academic institutions and industry organizations. It gathered experts from academia, practitioners, and industry specialists in the field of AI law and governance. The seminar prominently released the “Top 10 Topics in AI Legal Governance Research (2026)” and built a high-level platform for cross-university, cross-disciplinary, and cross-sector collaborative research on AI law and governance.
At the beginning of the conference, guests including Jiang Wei, Yu Fei, and Shu Guoying delivered speeches, emphasizing that the focus of the meeting is on the core issues of AI legal governance and serving practical needs. They highlighted the importance of AI law research for the development of the national digital economy and the modernization of science and technology governance. Zhang Linghan, Director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Law at China University of Political Science and Law, reviewed the research progress and achievements of the Academic Working Group on AI Good Governance, explained the upgrades and deepening of the ten topics’ setup and supporting measures, and detailed the research plans and systematic promotion following the release of the topics.
Industry experts presented and provided in-depth interpretations of the ten key research topics in AI law, covering core areas such as the boundaries of intelligent agent behavior and competition regulation, risk prevention of hallucinations in generative AI, personal information protection in the AI era, and intellectual property rights in human-machine collaboration scenarios. These topics precisely target the most urgent research directions in AI legal governance, clarifying their core meanings, research value, and problem-solving approaches. During the discussion session, academia, journal circles, and industry practitioners engaged in in-depth exchanges around the ten topics, further enriching their connotations and scope.
Additionally, Zhang Linghan officially announced the launch of the “AI Good Governance: New Wisdom, New Voice” online course on AI legal governance and the Master’s and Ph.D. research program (Spring and Summer sessions). The program released the themes and schedules for eight sessions, aiming to promote research through study, foster communication, cultivate young talents in AI law research, and advance academic inheritance in the field.
This seminar closely aligned with the national strategy for AI development and the overall needs of legal construction. It combined theoretical depth with practical value, breaking down research barriers among universities, research institutes, and industry organizations, and forming a collaborative research pattern across regions, disciplines, and fields. Moving forward, the organizers will conduct a series of in-depth studies, academic discussions, and practical exchanges around the ten topics, continuously promoting innovation in AI legal theory, institutional improvement, and practical implementation, thereby contributing solidly to the modernization of AI governance and the improvement of the legal system in China.
