The Fisheries and Conservation Department is studying the implementation of a reservation system at popular outdoor recreation spots. Environment and Ecology Bureau Secretary Cheung Kin-chung stated that during the Lunar New Year holiday period, many travelers visit Hong Kong’s countryside, but there has been no serious damage. He agreed that with the high visitor flow at scenic spots, a reservation system will first be trialed at Sai Kung East Camp, including popular campsites like Long Ke and Hoi Tan, with the aim to implement it no later than the Golden Week in November.

Regarding whether there will be a fee, Cheung Kin-chung indicated that charging could help better manage facilities. The reservation system will be tested first, and then they will study whether to introduce fees. They will also consider charging only on days with high visitor numbers during holidays to allow local residents to use the campsites.

Cheung Kin-chung mentioned that they are considering collaborating with travel companies to offer tour packages, such as the Tung O Bay tour, which includes seafood dining and visits to other scenic spots. He reiterated that the reservation system will be trialed first to improve orderliness.
