Zhejiang Issues Guiding Opinions to Advance High-Quality Development of Food Industry

Recently, the Office of the Zhejiang Provincial Food and Drug Safety Committee, the Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, and 9 other departments jointly issued the “Guiding Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Development of the Food Industry,” which clarifies six key areas to focus on, aiming to build a development pattern of “hundred-billion leading companies, trillion-yuan clusters, and ten-trillion-yuan industries” in the food sector. Among the proposals is strengthening characteristic industries. The plan is to continuously promote the development of historically classic food industries (production areas) such as West Lake Longjing tea, Shaoxing yellow wine, and Jinhua ham, which are included in the national key cultivation list. Each year, a batch of food varieties with distinctive Zhejiang local features and strong development potential will be selected for focused promotion, and a comprehensive service platform covering the entire supply chain will be built to expand industry scale.
