【Global Times Report by Li Sa】The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on the 12th local time that the United States will temporarily ease some sanctions on Russian oil. According to TASS on the 14th, Kremlin spokesperson and Russian President’s press secretary Peskov said that with U.S. sanctions easing and markets opening up, many countries are interested in purchasing Russian oil.

“The market is indeed large, and many parties are interested in buying Russian oil,” Peskov told TASS.

TASS reported that the governments of Thailand and Sri Lanka have previously announced their intentions to purchase Russian oil. Additionally, according to CNBC, hours after the U.S. announced a temporary relaxation of sanctions on some Russian oil, “buyers have already started lining up to purchase Russian oil”: the Thai government said it is ready for procurement negotiations, Japan is considering, and India will also benefit.

This is not the first time Peskov has responded to this matter. On the 13th, Peskov said, “We see the U.S. taking actions to stabilize the energy market.” He stated that the world is facing an increasingly severe energy crisis, and without a large amount of Russian oil, the market cannot stabilize.
