State Council Counselor and Former Vice Chairman of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission Wang Zhhaoxing Passed Away at Age 67
The Paper news reporter learned from relevant sources that Wang Zhaoxing, a State Council counselor and former member of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, passed away due to illness on March 17, 2026, in Beijing. He was 67 years old.
Public information shows that Wang Zhaoxing, male, was born in February 1959 and was a member of the Communist Party of China. He previously served as a member of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, and he had long been engaged in financial regulation work. In July 2019, he was appointed as a State Council counselor.
Wang Zhaoxing represented the banking industry in China’s accession negotiations to the World Trade Organization, and led research on major topics such as the implementation of international new regulatory standards in China’s banking sector, opening up the banking industry to the outside world, and improving financial services for small and micro enterprises.
