Caixin “Since the beginning of this year, China’s economy has shown a favorable momentum, and it will seek steady progress, maintain positive development, and inject more stability and certainty into a turbulent world.”

At the China Development High-Level Forum 2026 Annual Meeting held on March 22, Han Wenxiu, Deputy Director of the Office of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission and Director of the Office of the Central Rural Work Leading Group, focused on analyzing China’s recently released 14th Five-Year Plan.

He pointed out that the plan fully implements the new development concept, ensuring that by 2035, significant progress will be made toward the basic realization of socialist modernization, with development remaining the top priority.

The 14th Five-Year Plan emphasizes innovation-driven development. Han Wenxiu stated that innovation is the primary driver of development. The plan clearly defines the construction of a modern industrial system and the acceleration of high-level technological self-reliance as two key strategic tasks, with the core being to promote deep integration and development of technological and industrial innovation.
