International Paper announced plans to construct a new 468,000-square-foot sustainable packaging facility in Rankin County, Mississippi, with an investment of $225 million. This greenfield project aims to optimize the company’s box plant system, reduce structural costs, and enhance service capabilities in the Mid-South region by replacing older infrastructure. Construction is set to begin in June 2026 with operations expected by the fourth quarter of 2027, and employees from the existing Richland facility will transition to the new plant.
