Hebei News Network (Hebei Daily Reporter Li Chang) — On March 22, China New Air’s Capital Airlines flight JD488, operated with an Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft, arrived at Beijing Daxing International Airport from Colombo, Sri Lanka. After unloading the ceramic decorative items onboard, they were transported to Xiong’an for customs inspection. This marks the official operation of Xiong’an International Airport, the country’s first non-aviation port relying on a comprehensive bonded zone combined with an airline three-letter code—an inland port. The air cargo service at Xiong’an International Airport now uses the airline three-letter code “NXA,” serving as a “proof of identity,” allowing international shipments to connect directly to global networks. Xiong’an International Airport is now equipped to serve as both an international departure and destination port.

“As the carrier of this shipment, we personally felt the efficient coordination between Beijing and Xiong’an ports, smooth customs clearance processes, and strong service support, greatly improving the overall efficiency of air freight operations. In the future, we are willing to deepen cooperation with Xiong’an, expand the air freight network continuously, and fully serve the development of industries in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, as well as high-level opening up,” said Liu Jun, President of Beijing Capital Airlines.

To ensure the smooth landing of this first shipment, the Xiong’an Free Trade Zone Management Committee and Beijing Shuxin Ground Services Co., Ltd. strengthened cooperation. Relying on customs supervision facilities and the “NXA” three-letter code, they built the Xiong’an International Air Cargo Terminal to high standards. Xiong’an Customs and Beijing Daxing International Airport Customs enhanced cross-region coordination, establishing a convenient and efficient “Great Customs Clearance” system between Beijing and Xiong’an. Li Yufeng, Deputy Director of Xiong’an Customs, stated, “The construction of the convenient customs clearance system between Beijing and Xiong’an allows local enterprises to enjoy the benefits of an international aviation hub right at their doorstep. We will continue to deepen cooperation with ports across Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, effectively reduce logistics costs for enterprises, and turn the benefits of opening up into development momentum more quickly and effectively.” Li Yaopu, Deputy Director of Beijing Daxing International Airport Customs, expressed full support for the construction of Xiong’an’s integrated bonded zone’s aviation pre-positioning cargo station, strengthening cross-border logistics channels, and actively leveraging the port functions of Beijing Daxing International Airport to facilitate seamless cargo transfer from Beijing Daxing to Xiong’an International Cargo Station as if within the same regulatory zone.

Xiong’an New Area is exploring new pathways for high-level opening-up in inland regions. The launch of Xiong’an International Airport and the activation of the “NXA” code are key breakthroughs in improving the area’s open economic infrastructure, promoting comprehensive integration into the global air freight network, and providing solid support for high-quality development of the export-oriented economy.
