Hong Kong Businessman Kidnapped: Over 60 Million Dollars in Crypto Assets and Silver Stolen
A serious crime incident has emerged in Hong Kong where a 25-year-old Chinese businessman was illegally detained and his vast assets were stolen. This incident was reported by TVB News on March 8 and has drawn the attention of law enforcement authorities.
Kidnapping and Forced Money Demands at a Hotel
The incident occurred at a hotel in Hong Kong where four Chinese suspects accidentally locked the victim inside. The suspects assaulted the victim and attempted to force him to reveal the passwords to his digital accounts. They then withdrew a large sum from his electronic wallet.
Heavy Losses in Crypto and Valuable Items
Unauthorized transfers of approximately $6.8 million USD (about HKD 5.3 million) worth of cryptocurrency were made from the victim’s accounts. Additionally, the suspects reached the victim’s company office and took about 42 kilograms of silver items. Overall, the victim suffered losses exceeding HKD 600 million.
Police Report and Investigation Initiated
After the incident, the victim was left in the dark, and he immediately reported it to the police. Physical examination revealed serious injuries on his face, both arms, and hips. The Major Cases Investigation Team of the Kunlong City Police District classified this incident as illegal detention and extortion, and is actively searching for the suspects.
