IT Home reported on February 27 that sources reveal Jason Schreier has disclosed Sony is evaluating tightening its cross-platform strategy for PlayStation, including the upcoming game Marvel’s Wolverine, which is not expected to launch on PC.

Currently, Sony’s typical approach is to release real-time service multiplayer games simultaneously on PC and PS5, while narrative single-player titles are initially exclusive to PS5 for a period before launching on PC. Schreier believes Sony may further extend the PS5 exclusivity period for narrative single-player games or even never port these titles to PC.

The reason, according to Schreier, is that Sony has found that bringing its games to PC can impact PS5 console sales and user loyalty. Additionally, porting games to PC is costly, and the sales returns are not always significant.

Referring to a report by Aliena Analytics published in November 2025, Sony’s total revenue on Steam was approximately $1.5 billion (IT Home note: about 10.279 billion RMB at current exchange rates). However, most of this income came from the live service multiplayer game PUBG 2, while other narrative single-player titles like Horizon, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and God of War series generated far less revenue compared to PUBG 2.

Therefore, Schreier predicts that Marvel’s Wolverine, scheduled for release on September 15, will likely not launch on PC. Sony plans to use this as an opportunity to reassess and possibly tighten its cross-platform strategy for PlayStation.
