Abstract generation in progress

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool forward, announced on Instagram that he will leave the club at the end of this season. Salah said, “Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will leave Liverpool after this season.”

Is there a rift between the manager and him? Salah’s relationship with Klopp has reportedly broken down, becoming a catalyst.

In April 2025, Salah signed a new two-year contract with Liverpool, but after the club stated that an “agreement” had been reached regarding his future, he will transfer as a free agent. So far, he has scored only 10 goals in 34 matches across all competitions, possibly setting a new low for goals in a single season at Anfield.

Last December, after Liverpool’s 3-3 away draw with Leeds United, Salah gave an interview, saying he felt “thrown under the bus” by the club and that his relationship with head coach Klopp had already broken down.

There was speculation that Salah might leave during the January transfer window, but after participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, he returned to the team. It remains unclear which club and country he will join next season to continue his football career.

Liverpool stated that Salah chose to announce his departure now because he wanted to “inform fans as early as possible” and “provide transparency about his future out of respect and gratitude for them.”

Unforgettable Reds Years and Fan Support

Salah said his time in Merseyside has left a deep mark on his life, having experienced COVID-19 and recently the passing of teammate Diogo Jota. He said, “I never thought this club, this city, and the people here would become such a profound part of my life. Liverpool is not just a club. It’s passion. It’s history. It’s spirit.”

“I can’t put into words how much this means to someone who doesn’t belong to this club. We celebrated victories. We won the most important trophies. We went through the toughest times of our lives together.”

“I want to thank everyone at this club during my time here, especially past and present teammates.”

Over the past nine years, Salah has played a key role in Liverpool’s resurgence. He helped the club win two Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, two League Cups, and Community Shield.

Salah’s Impressive 9-Year Liverpool Career Summary

Salah has played 435 matches for the Reds, scoring 255 goals, ranking third in club history behind Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285). He has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times and was named PFA Player of the Year three times—2018, 2022, and 2025.

Salah also praised Liverpool fans for their support, saying they “stood by me during the best moments of my career” and “stood with me during the toughest times.”

He said, “This is something I will never forget, and I will always cherish. Leaving is never easy.”

“You gave me the best moments of my life, and I will always be one of you. This club will always be my home and my family’s home. Thank you for everything. Because of you, I will never walk alone.”

Liverpool expressed gratitude for Salah’s nine extraordinary years at Anfield, with plans to announce their appreciation later. They added, “There are still many matches to play this season, and Salah remains focused on helping Liverpool achieve the best possible results.”

“Therefore, the moment to fully celebrate his contributions and achievements will come later this year when he says goodbye to Anfield.”

Current Premier League champions Liverpool are fifth in the standings with seven matches remaining.

They will face reigning champions PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals and will play Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, April 4.

Liverpool teammate Andy Robertson said Salah deserves a farewell ceremony that reflects his status as one of the club’s “greatest” players in history. He posted on Instagram, “Watching and being part of Salah’s career at Anfield has been a pleasure.”

Salah Bids Farewell to Liverpool

Hello everyone. It’s with regret that the day has finally arrived. This is the first part of my farewell. I will leave Liverpool after this season.

I want to start by saying… I never imagined that this club, this city, and the people here would become such a profound part of my life.

Liverpool is more than just a football club. It’s passion. It’s history. It’s spirit. For anyone who doesn’t belong to this club, I can’t put it into words.

We celebrated victories together. We won the most important trophies. We faced the toughest times of our lives side by side.

I want to thank everyone at this club during my time here, especially past and current teammates.

As for the fans… I can’t find enough words. You supported me through the best moments of my career and stood by me during the hardest times. I will never forget this. It’s a memory I will carry forever.

Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best moments of my life. I will always be one of you. This club will always be my home and my family’s home.

Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.
