On March 17, the 2026 Yabuli Forum Annual Conference was held from March 17-19 in Yabuli, Heilongjiang. During the Snow and Ice Economy Forum segment, Wang Zimu, founder and former chairman of Huatai Insurance Group and chairman of the Sustainable Natural Resources Conservation Public Foundation, shared his thoughts on the snow and ice economy. He expressed that as a native of Heilongjiang, he particularly looks forward to the region’s snow and ice economy developing well, including Heilongjiang’s ski resorts.

“I started my career here, but now I feel that Heilongjiang is somewhat lagging in this area. I’ve heard that five of the top ten ski resorts in the country are in Jilin, and I worry whether an old saying might come true: ‘Investments don’t go beyond Shanhai Pass, and skiing doesn’t go beyond Changbai Mountain.’” Wang Zimu mentioned that now, from Northeast China southward, even into the southern regions, there are large ski resorts. He hopes Heilongjiang’s hometown snow and ice economy will be truly prioritized with refined management.

Wang Zimu stated that even when southern regions are not suitable, Heilongjiang can still host ski competitions. “I hope people not only enjoy the winter at ski resorts but also appreciate the summer, though they should prefer the winter at ski resorts more.”
