Commerzbank: Bond Investors May Seek Clues from Energy Price Dynamics

German Commercial Bank’s Hauke Siemssen stated in a report that energy price dynamics continue to dominate the bond market, with oil and natural gas prices playing a leading role. The rate strategist said, “Given the almost distraction-free schedule today, the focus is likely to remain firmly on the impact of the Iran conflict.” He noted that German, U.S., and UK government bonds, along with stocks, were sold off together—a pattern that has also appeared in recent crises—because the situation has become clear: central banks in various countries need to focus on inflation, and safe assets are no longer scarce.
