National Data Bureau Director Liu Liehong: Will Cultivate Digital Industry Clusters in Stages, Foster and Strengthen Innovative Enterprises in the Digital Economy
People’s Financial News, March 24 — On March 24, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the Ninth Digital China Construction Summit. Liu Liehong, Director of the National Data Bureau, stated, "During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the added value of core digital economy industries as a percentage of GDP will rise from 7.8% in 2020 to over 10.5% by 2025, indicating that the core industries of the digital economy play a more prominent foundational and pillar role in the national economy. In 2026, the National Data Bureau will fully promote high-quality development of the digital economy. First, cultivate digital industry clusters in stages, using them as comprehensive carriers to shape core competitiveness in the digital economy, promoting cross-entity and cross-regional data flow and utilization, and fostering deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation; second, nurture and expand innovative digital economy enterprises. This year, the National Data Bureau, together with the National Development and Reform Commission and other relevant departments, will select a batch of innovative, high-potential enterprises for inclusion and cultivation, focusing on their development needs, tailoring policies accordingly, and providing one-stop support in computing power, data, scenarios, and funding; third, promote full-scale digital transformation of cities, deepen smart city development, advance pilot projects for city-wide digital transformation, accelerate digital empowerment to improve manufacturing quality, efficiency, and value, support the building of digital transformation empowerment platforms, and create an ecosystem for digital transformation characterized by supply-demand matching, full-chain collaboration, and value-driven development.
