China News Service, March 23 — (Zhang Ning) Recently, the 11th China Energy Development and Innovation Conference was held in Beijing. Wei Suo, Vice President of the China Industry Development Promotion Association and Chairman of the Hydrogen Energy Branch, stated at the meeting that energy is the food of industry and the lifeblood of the national economy.

Wei Suo believes that looking ahead to the “14th Five-Year Plan,” this is a critical period for laying the foundation of China’s new energy system and a key stage for energy transition from quantitative to qualitative change.

At the conference, Wei Suo put forward four proposals:

Developing future energy is our shared mission. We should focus on key areas such as high-efficiency photovoltaics, advanced wind power, new energy storage, hydrogen production, storage and transportation, advanced nuclear energy, and smart grids. Increase R&D investment and technological innovation, actively develop new technologies and industries, explore new models and business formats, promote digitalization and intelligence, and lead industrial transformation through technological innovation. Be a steadfast practitioner in building a strong energy nation.

Strengthen green leadership to paint a low-carbon development background

Unwaveringly implement the “dual carbon” goals, continuously optimize the energy structure, and expand green electricity and green energy supply and application scenarios. Leverage hydrogen energy and hydrogen-based fuel raw materials for deep decarbonization and substitution in industry, transportation, and energy sectors, and become the main force in building a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient modern energy system.

Promote industrial integration to build a collaborative development ecosystem

The energy revolution is not a solo performance of a single technology but a symphony of multiple energies complementing each other and industry integration. Break down industry and professional barriers, promote deep integration of energy with industry and ecology, and develop comprehensive utilization of multiple energy sources. Use hydrogen energy as a medium to build new industrial models and ecosystems that cross industries, interconnect and complement different types of energy, and achieve cross-regional collaboration and symbiosis.

Strengthen the safety foundation to secure the energy supply

Always prioritize energy security, adhere to the principle of ensuring traditional energy supply as a safety net while increasing the share of new energy sources, and accelerate the construction of a diversified clean energy supply system. Implement the ten-year doubling plan for non-fossil energy to contribute to the country’s energy security.
