Google Pushes WearOS 5.1 Security Update to Original Pixel Watch, Fixes Emergency Calling Bug
IT Home, March 17 — Google has quietly rolled out a security update, BW1A.260305.003, for the first-generation Pixel Watch, primarily fixing an emergency dial bug.
Public information shows that the first-generation Pixel Watch was released in October 2022, and its system remains on Wear OS 5.1, unable to upgrade to the latest Wear OS 6. According to Google Help documentation, Google states that the security update for the first-generation Pixel Watch “will be supported at least until October 2025.” However, as of March 2026, Google is still releasing security updates for the series.
According to the update log, this BW1A.260305.003 security update aims to “fix a critical modem error when making E911 emergency calls” on the first-generation Pixel Watch. Google recommends all first-generation Pixel Watch users update their devices to avoid dial-out failures or delays when contacting emergency services.
