On February 25, 2026, during German Chancellor Merz’s visit to China, NIO signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Bosch. NIO Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Quality Management Committee Shen Feng, along with Shuma Yao, President of Bosch Global Business Services Asia-Pacific and Director of Bosch China, represented both parties to sign the agreement.

The cooperation will cover NIO’s three major brands—NIO, ONVO, and Firefly—focusing on in-depth collaboration in core technologies of intelligent electric vehicles. The areas of cooperation include steer-by-wire chassis and battery management, as well as braking control, steering systems, drive systems, vehicle electronic systems, and sensing modules.

The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement marks a continued deepening of collaborative innovation in key technologies of intelligent electric vehicles. It will further promote complementary advantages along the industrial chain and high-quality development, helping China and Germany reach new heights in energy transition and high-end manufacturing cooperation, and contributing to global sustainable development and economic and trade collaboration.

On the afternoon of February 25, Premier Li Qiang attended the China-Germany Economic Advisory Committee meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, together with German Chancellor Merz. More than 60 representatives from Chinese and German enterprises attended. NIO founder, chairman, and CEO Li Bin was invited to attend as a representative of Chinese automotive companies.

During the meeting, Li Bin and other Chinese and German business leaders discussed topics such as green low-carbon development, digital transformation, stability of the industrial and supply chains, and two-way investment environments. They also engaged in in-depth discussions with German automotive representatives on how to achieve mutual benefits and joint development amid the current global automotive industry’s electrification and intelligent transformation.
