Sino-Laos Railway Passenger and Cargo Traffic Thriving, Continuously Releasing the Efficiency of the International Golden Corridor
Wang Lianxiang
People’s Daily Beijing, March 24 (Reporter Wang Lianxiang) According to the official website of China Railway Group, since the beginning of this year, the China-Laos Railway has achieved remarkable results in passenger and freight transportation, continuously releasing the potential of the international gold corridor. It provides efficient support for local travel and regional economic and trade exchanges, helping to deepen and solidify the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative. As of March 22, the China-Laos Railway has transported a total of 5.499 million tons of goods and sent 5.501 million passengers this year.
As a vital artery connecting China and Laos, the China-Laos Railway has seen annual growth in passenger and freight volume since its opening on December 3, 2021. To ensure smooth transportation, railway authorities adhere to safety standards and optimize service measures, continuously improving logistics efficiency and quality. For different passenger groups such as tourists, migrant workers, and students, the railway offers customized services like advance ticketing and dedicated guidance to ensure a comfortable journey. They also coordinate with customs and other departments to implement fast-track clearance modes and provide door-to-door logistics services, effectively reducing logistics costs.
Since the beginning of this year, cross-border transportation has continued to heat up, and the international gold corridor of the China-Laos Railway has maintained its effectiveness. Since the launch of international passenger trains on April 13, 2023, a total of 3,114 trains have been operated, transporting 780,000 cross-border passengers. This year, 324 trains have been operated, carrying 102,000 cross-border passengers, a year-on-year increase of 31.4%.
