According to sources, U.S. Vice President JD Vance and other key officials in the Trump administration plan to meet with oil industry executives on Thursday. Following the U.S. attack on Iran, fuel prices have surged, and the White House is working to contain prices.

Sources say the meeting will be held at the American Petroleum Institute (API), an organization representing the U.S. oil and gas industry, with attendees including board members of the organization. Due to confidentiality, the sources requested anonymity.

“We look forward to discussions with government officials—including Vice President Vance, Energy Secretary Wright, congressional leaders from both parties, and governors—on the role of U.S. oil and natural gas in supporting reliable energy supplies amid global market turbulence,” said Andrea Woods, a spokesperson for the industry organization based in Washington, in a statement. “Our industry is focused on providing insights into market dynamics and strengthening America’s long-term energy leadership and resilience.”

Vance’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This meeting comes as Trump faces significant political pressure to address rising fuel prices. The November midterm elections largely depend on Americans’ perceptions of living costs, and polls show Trump’s economic management performance is underwhelming.
