(MENAFN) US social media platform X was struck by a significant outage Thursday, leaving tens of thousands of users worldwide unable to access the service, according to outage monitoring platform Downdetector.

Reports of disruption began flooding in at 0645 GMT, with more than 30,000 users logging complaints about access failures at the peak of the incident.

A breakdown of user-submitted reports revealed that 50% of complaints centred on feed and timeline failures, while 41% pointed to issues with the mobile application and 6% cited problems with the website.

Downdetector aggregates data exclusively from voluntary user reports, meaning the true scale of affected users is likely to exceed figures currently on record.
