Takeout War Causes Meituan to Lose 23.4 Billion Yuan in 2025

On the evening of March 26, Meituan (03690.HK) released its Q4 and full-year 2025 financial reports. The company achieved a total revenue of 364.855 billion yuan, an 8.1% year-over-year increase, with a significant slowdown in growth; net loss was 23.354 billion yuan, whereas in 2024, it was profitable at 35.808 billion yuan. Due to the ongoing takeout war in 2025, Meituan’s core local business segment shifted from an operating profit of 52.415 billion yuan in 2024 to an operating loss of 6.904 billion yuan in 2025. The overseas new business segment’s operating loss expanded from 7.273 billion yuan last year to 10.082 billion yuan.
