Japanese animation director Tsutomu Shibayama has passed away. He had long directed the "Doraemon" series.

On March 17, Japan animation production company Asia Do announced that the company’s former representative director and president, Tsuyoshi Shiyama, passed away on March 6, 2026, at the age of 84 due to lung cancer. From the 1983 film “Nobita’s Dinosaur” to the 2004 film “Nobita’s New Great Adventure: The Robot Kingdom,” Tsuyoshi Shiyama directed 22 Doraemon theatrical films over a span of more than 20 years. Additionally, he served as director or chief director for many works, including “Ninja Nonsense” and “Chibi Maruko-chan.”
