Guterres: Appointed Middle East envoy to engage in "direct contacts" with Iran

On March 27, People’s Financial News reported that on the evening of March 26, Iran’s Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian had a phone call with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. During the call, Abdollahian stated that the current insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of U.S. and Israeli aggression. As a coastal country, Iran has the right to prevent ships belonging to or associated with hostile countries and their allies from passing through. Guterres said during the call that the previous appointment of French diplomat Jean Arnaud as the Middle East envoy was aimed at engaging in “direct contact” with Iran. (CCTV News)
