R-Star requires developers to sign a lifetime confidentiality agreement. Former employees' disclosures should be approached with caution.

Whether in the gaming industry or other fields, employee confidentiality agreements are common. These agreements prohibit employees from disclosing information related to company projects or strategies. Therefore, in game studios and publishers, employees are often forbidden from discussing certain details, and sometimes this culture of secrecy becomes extreme. This is especially evident at Rockstar Games, which continuously monitors its team’s statements.

Kiwi Talkz posted on X that he will release an interview this weekend with a former Rockstar developer who worked on games like L.A. Noire, Heavenly Sword 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Kiwi Talkz added that he had to be very careful during the interview because the developer signed a “lifetime confidentiality agreement.” He also pointed out that Rockstar is the only company in the industry to adopt such a strategy.

“In any interview involving Rockstar, due to the lifetime confidentiality agreement, I have to be very cautious and cannot go into details. But we did discuss many aspects of his time at Rockstar, as well as other parts of his career and life.”

“This is why most former Rockstar developers are unwilling to speak out at all. I am very careful in all interviews related to Rockstar because I don’t want to cause trouble for the developers or upset Rockstar.”
