** [Caixin]** Climate change and the wave of digitalization are both key forces driving economic transformation; it is wrong to oppose economic growth and low-carbon development. On March 26, the President and Chairman of the Board of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (referred to as “AIIB”), Cai Jiali, attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026 and expressed this view.

Cai Jiali cited that economic development and green transformation go hand in hand in Asia. The application of digital technologies has improved the production efficiency of clean energy, and green energy continues to support data centers, promoting the increasing prevalence of artificial intelligence.

Cai Jiali also stated that strengthening regional cooperation is an important force for Asia to promote dual transformations of green and digital. The ASEAN Grid Initiative is a typical example. This is a plan to connect the electricity systems of ten ASEAN member countries, with the aim of establishing a cross-border interconnected regional grid system among Southeast Asian countries by 2045. This plan helps integrate renewable energy, promotes regional integration, and enhances energy security.
