(MENAFN- UkrinForm) NGU spokesperson Ruslan Muzychuk stated this in an interview with Ukrinform.

Muzychuk reported that about 1,000 mobile and stationary fire groups of the National Guard of Ukraine are providing protection for critical infrastructure and responding to air threats. The number of such groups depends on the scope of tasks, the number of facilities requiring protection, and the directions from which Russia may launch attacks.

He noted that the geographical placement of these groups can change, and that in certain directions their number is sometimes increased to strengthen the air defense system, while exact figures and directions are not disclosed for security reasons.

Muzychuk added that Ukraine has an extensive border with Russia in the north and east, as well as a maritime direction, and that efforts are made to respond effectively in border areas and in locations where enemy aerial targets may potentially appear.

According to him, the task of the state leadership and the National Guard command is to analyze where and how mobile fire groups need to be strengthened and with what means.

In particular, he said that last week an agreement was signed with the German Embassy to strengthen this component, under which National Guard units will receive 15,000 interceptor drones to counter fast and maneuverable aerial targets and protect infrastructure.

As Ukrinform reported, mobile groups and interceptor drone crews of the National Guard of Ukraine are actively protecting critical infrastructure from enemy attacks and, in the first three months of 2026, shot down more than 500 Shahed drones.
