Starting April 1st, the Yellow River in Shanxi enters the fishing ban period.

The reporter learned from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs that, in order to strictly implement the national Yellow River fishing moratorium and rest period system, further nurture Shanxi’s aquatic biological resources, protect biodiversity, improve aquatic ecological environments, and promote ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, the fishing ban period for the Yellow River in Shanxi Province runs from April 1 to July 31. The main reaches of the Yellow River in Shanxi Province, the main reaches of the Fen River and the Qin River, as well as the main reaches of affiliated first-level tributaries are designated as fishing ban areas. In addition, the fishing ban period in the Haihe River Basin runs from May 16 to July 31; the main reaches of the Sanggan River, Hutuo River, and Zhang River in the Haihe River Basin, as well as natural lake waters, are designated as fishing ban areas. During the fishing ban period, within the fishing ban areas, all types of fishing operations other than recreational angling are prohibited, and the acquisition, transportation, storage, and sale of illegally caught fishery products are prohibited. Where, within the fishing ban areas, special needs such as teaching, scientific research, and breeding and propagation require the capture of natural fishery resources, permission must be obtained from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. For special fishing activities in the fishing ban areas, approval must be obtained from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. (CCTV News)
