When will humanoid robots experience the ChatGPT moment? The most optimistic prediction at the Boao Forum: two years

【Caixin Media】 The “ChatGPT moment” of 2022 changed the development trajectory of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry. At the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia on March 25, industry experts engaged in lively discussion on when the “ChatGPT moment” for humanoid robots would arrive.

Among them, Wang Xiaogang, co-founder of SenseTime and chairman of the Daxiao Robotics board, offered the most optimistic prediction for the whole event: the humanoid robot’s “ChatGPT moment” will come in two years, that is, in 2027. At that time, through an environment-style rapid sampling approach, the data volume in the robotics industry—rising from the current level of 100,000-hours—would increase to 10 million hours.

Wang Xiaogang further added that when the industry enters its “ChatGPT moment,” it actually means that the technical roadmap has become clear. That is, if you expand the data scale along a given technical route, you will grow the size of the model—and it will also surely generate returns.
