Long-term care insurance reduces the public's caregiving expenses by over 100 billion yuan

The Deputy Director of the National Healthcare Security Administration, Wang Wenjun, introduced at the State Council Information Office press conference held today (26th) that since the pilot program was launched in 2016, the construction of the long-term care insurance system has gone through a process of “pilot, evaluation, expansion of the pilot, re-evaluation, and initiation of comprehensive establishment.”

The pilot regions increased from the initial 15 to 92 by the end of last year, covering 308 million insured individuals, and benefiting over 3.3 million disabled persons, reducing the burden of care costs for the public by more than 100 billion yuan.
