Lei Jun resigns as Chairman of Kingsoft Cloud and from multiple positions; Zou Tao takes over new roles; performance expected to improve by 2025.
Kingsoft Cloud recently announced significant personnel changes. Lei Jun has decided to resign from his position as a non-executive director of the company due to personal work arrangements, with the changes officially taking effect on March 25, 2026. After this adjustment, Lei Jun will no longer hold key positions such as chairman of Kingsoft Cloud, chairman of the board’s nomination committee, and member of the compensation committee.
According to public information, Lei Jun has served as a non-executive director of Kingsoft Cloud since 2012 and further assumed the role of chairman in 2015. In the announcement, Kingsoft Cloud stated that Lei Jun has confirmed there are no disagreements between him and the company’s board of directors, and this resignation is part of normal work arrangement adjustments.
Zou Tao, the current vice chairman, will succeed Lei Jun as chairman. Zou Tao joined the Kingsoft Cloud board in December 2016 and has acted as CEO since August 2022. As a senior manager in the “Kingsoft system,” Zou Tao joined Kingsoft Software Group in 1998 and has held multiple senior management positions, possessing rich industry experience.
At the same time, Kingsoft Cloud’s board also announced the appointment of Qu Heng as the new non-executive director, and he will serve on the nomination committee and compensation committee. After joining Xiaomi Group in 2010, Qu Heng held important positions such as general manager of the ecological chain department and currently serves as vice president and chairman of the technology committee at Xiaomi Group. Previously, he worked at Kingsoft Software as an engineer and project manager from 2005 to 2010, with deep ties to the “Kingsoft system.”
Kingsoft Cloud’s board emphasized that Lei Jun’s resignation will not have a significant adverse impact on the company’s business operations or financial status. As a globally recognized cloud service provider, Kingsoft Cloud currently offers over 150 solutions across multiple fields such as the internet, public services, digital health, and finance, with operations covering various countries and regions worldwide.
On the same day the personnel change announcement was made, Kingsoft Cloud also disclosed its financial performance for 2025. The data shows that the company’s total revenue for the year reached 9.559 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.80%; the net loss was 944 million yuan, narrowing by 52.30% compared to the same period last year. Notably, public cloud service revenue saw significant growth, reaching 6.634 billion yuan, up 32.50% year-on-year; industry cloud service revenue was 2.925 billion yuan, an increase of 5.30%. The company stated that the growth in performance was primarily due to the large-scale expansion of intelligent cloud computing services.
As of the close of trading on the day of the announcement, Kingsoft Cloud’s stock price was reported at 7.55 HKD per share, with a total market value of 34.21 billion HKD.
