Just saw something wild on the blockchain - nearly 70k BTC moved from an old Silk Road wallet address early this week. According to Elliptic, this is the first transaction from that address since 2015. That's almost a billion dollars in movement from what looks like early dark web market funds.
The interesting part? Analysts think this could be linked to Ross Ulbricht, the Silk Road founder who's been serving a life sentence since his 2013 arrest. Obviously he's not moving coins from prison, so it's either a hacker who cracked the encrypted keys or someone else with access. Either way, it's raising questions about the remaining Silk Road bitcoin stash and Ulbricht's overall wealth tied up in those old holdings.
Big on-chain moves like this always spook the market a bit, though Bitcoin's been more focused on macro factors lately. Still worth watching where those coins end up.
