Flying car batch trial production in Huangpu completed, XPeng Huitian explores the "Guangzhou model" for low-altitude economy
Southern Finance Reporter Zhu Zhixuan, Guangzhou Report
On March 5th, the惊蛰 (Awakening of Insects), after days of spring rain, Guangzhou cleared up and became sunny. In Huangpu District, a batch of XPeng Huitian terrestrial aircraft carriers completed trial production and multiple test flights at the Guangzhou Huitian flying car mass production factory.
On the same day, XPeng Huitian, Guangzhou Urban Investment Group, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Electronic Fifth Institute jointly established the Guangzhou Haixinsha Full-Space Intelligent Experience Center (Haixinsha Science Island) under the “1+1+N” model, launching joint exploration of low-altitude flying scenarios, achieving a critical leap from “production line” to “real scene flight,” and officially initiating the “Guangzhou Model” of the low-altitude economy.
Five aircraft simultaneously completed trial production and rolled off the line
“After so many years of research and development, XPeng Huitian has finally ushered in the year of mass production and delivery. These days, coinciding with the National Two Sessions, the low-altitude economy has been positioned as a ‘new pillar industry,’ and we are very pleased.” Regarding the third consecutive inclusion of the low-altitude economy in the government work report of the National Two Sessions, XPeng Huitian founder Zhao Deli felt very excited. “XPeng Huitian now has the capacity for mass production, mass test flights, and mass delivery. We believe we can contribute to China’s low-altitude economy industry.”
Inside the Guangzhou Huitian flying car mass production factory in Huangpu District, five terrestrial aircraft carriers completed trial production and rolled off the line simultaneously. After Zhao Deli announced the start of mass trial production and formation test flights, the five aircraft, after safety checks, smoothly took off one after another.
Southern Finance reporters learned that the Huitian flying car mass production factory covers an area of about 120k square meters, mainly used for the production of terrestrial aircraft carriers, and is also the world’s first factory to utilize modern assembly lines for mass production of flying cars. In full capacity, the factory can produce one aircraft every 30 minutes, pioneering the introduction of automotive assembly line techniques into the aerospace field, achieving leaps in scale, efficiency, and quality consistency.
Li Rui, Vice President of XPeng Huitian, shared his experience of selling flying cars in the UAE in an interview with Southern Finance. Last year, he signed an order for 600 terrestrial aircraft carriers worth 1.2 billion yuan in Dubai, sparking industry discussion. “I originally prepared 100 communication plans,” Li Rui admitted. To promote this new type of flying vehicle, he made thorough preparations. Unexpectedly, local customers were very interested in flying cars. Their first question was about the price. When they learned that the 2 million yuan price was in RMB rather than USD, they immediately responded positively, and the order negotiations went very smoothly.
Li Rui further mentioned that Middle Eastern clients, although owning many private jets, lack aircraft that consumers can pilot themselves, and XPeng Huitian’s flying cars precisely fill this market gap. The product is easy to operate, with safety, energy efficiency, and intelligent features, allowing ordinary people to experience the joy of flying firsthand.
It is worth noting that the participation of female pilots also added a bright spot to this test flight. “Since entering this industry, whether male or female, we are all in the same role. I feel very proud and hope more women will join our pilot team in the future.” On-site, pilot Su YuanYuan sent Women’s Day greetings.
Haixinsha witnesses the first real scene manned flight
On the same day, at the dedicated takeoff and landing point on Haixinsha Science Island, after the terrestrial aircraft carrier completed automatic separation, a pilot from Huitian slowly took off in the terrestrial aircraft carrier, flying around the Haixinsha Experience Center in a circular route, successfully completing the manned flight scenario verification. This was also the first real scene manned flight verification at Haixinsha Science Island as a benchmark for low-altitude economic scenarios.
It is understood that XPeng Huitian and Guangzhou Urban Investment Group are conducting in-depth cooperation based on their respective advantages. XPeng Huitian has capabilities in flying car R&D, manufacturing, and flight training, while Guangzhou Urban Investment Group, as the core builder of Haixinsha Science Island, relies on site resources, high-end cultural tourism scenarios, and industrial ecological advantages, possessing core strengths in low-altitude economy scenario operation and market implementation. “In the future, both parties will use Haixinsha Science Island as a core platform to cooperate in exhibition and sales, camp construction, popular science and research, and other areas, jointly building a complete ecosystem of ‘low-altitude products + flying + scenarios.’ This model is also seen as a typical exploration of the integration of high-end manufacturing and advanced services in Guangzhou.”
The “14th Five-Year Plan” explicitly proposes cultivating new types of productive forces and forward-looking layout of future industries, with low-altitude economy, autonomous driving, and embodied intelligence incorporated into the national strategic layout. Recently, He Xiaopeng, a deputy to the National People’s Congress and Chairman and CEO of XPeng Motors, stated that 2026 will not only be a year of continuous technological breakthroughs but also a critical node where institutional supply and industrial scale need to be aligned. He hopes that scientific and technological achievements can truly move out of laboratories and become accessible realities in city skies, on roads, and in household scenarios.
