Two Pakistani sources said that negotiations between the United States and Iran are still ongoing, with Pakistan acting as the main intermediary and conveying proposals from both sides, but no substantive compromise has yet emerged. The sources said that Iran has recently launched attacks on industrial facilities associated with Saudi and American companies, which could seriously affect the progress of the negotiations. A senior Pakistani security official said that if Saudi Arabia retaliates, the negotiations may be interrupted, and Pakistan could even be drawn into the conflict due to its defense agreements with Saudi Arabia.
Another source pointed out that the next few hours are “crucial” for the outlook of the negotiations. On the one hand, Iran has shown flexibility in its willingness to engage in dialogue; on the other hand, it still insists on hard precondition requirements. Pakistan is urging Iran to return to negotiations without preconditions.
Earlier, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that the US and Iran are still exchanging information through intermediaries. But a senior Iranian official disclosed that Tehran has rejected the proposal for a temporary ceasefire, demanding that negotiations be premised on stopping US-Israeli strikes and obtaining compensation. In addition, on the 7th, three senior Iranian officials said that Iran has notified Pakistan that it will no longer take part in talks aimed at a ceasefire. (CCTV News)
