The National Intellectual Property Administration warns: Using AI to draft patent application documents may trigger multiple risks.

The National Intellectual Property Administration issued a risk alert, pointing out that intelligent agent tools such as OpenClaw (“Lobster,” formerly known as Clawdbot, Moltbot) have issues like weak default security configurations, which can easily lead to serious security risks. At the same time, using such intelligent agents to draft patent application documents may pose multiple risks including “technical information leakage,” “substantive defects,” and “dishonest applications.” To prevent these risks, the National Intellectual Property Administration reminds applicants to carefully choose compliant patent agency services, and patent agencies and agents should eliminate the use of intelligent agents for dishonest patent application activities.
