Iraq sentences 11 ISIS members to death

According to a report by the Iraqi News Agency on the 7th, the Central Criminal Court of Iraq sentenced 11 members of the extremist organization “Islamic State” to death on charges of planning and carrying out terrorist attacks against state institutions. The report said that these criminals joined “Islamic State” through social media or websites and received specialized training in making explosive devices and using drones to carry out terrorist attacks against state institutions. The Iraqi government announced in December 2017 that the campaign against “Islamic State” had achieved victory. Since then, the remaining remnants of “Islamic State” have mainly operated in remote rural areas of Iraq, occasionally launching attacks. (Xinhua News Agency)
