Block Milik Jack Dorsey Distributes $1 Million to Boost Bitcoin Adoption

Block, the financial technology company owned by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, officially launched the "Bitcoin Day" initiative with a total grant fund of up to $1 million. This program is designed to provide direct rewards to users who interact with the Bitcoin ecosystem through various Block-owned platforms, from purchasing assets on Cash App to using Bitcoin as a payment method at Square merchants.
Just three days after its launch, Block reported that more than $900,000 had been distributed to users. The funds flowed into various activities, including users buying their first Bitcoin, retail transactions at local coffee shops using Square systems, and self-custody education for users transferring their assets to Bitkey wallets. This move demonstrates Dorsey’s ambition to make Bitcoin a functional currency in everyday life.
This campaign not only focuses on transactions but also encourages network growth through community education. Block notes a new wave of users beginning to understand the concept of independent money ownership without relying on centralized exchanges. With remaining funds below $100,000, this initiative is considered successful in accelerating new user onboarding and expanding Bitcoin payment networks at the local level.
