Russia condemns the U.S. claims of "taking over" Cuba
In response to the so-called “takeover” remarks by the U.S. side regarding Cuba, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova condemned them at a routine press conference on the 12th and stated that Russia will continue to support Cuba. Zakharova said that any threats and intimidation aimed at any country, including Cuba, will only backfire; warlike rhetoric that nearly amounts to threats of force violates the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, as well as the principles of relations among civilized nations. Russia calls for resolving current disagreements through political and diplomatic means. Zakharova stated that for nearly seventy years, Cuba has been subjected to unprecedented economic, trade, and financial pressure from the United States. In the face of the current situation, Russia has consistently and will continue to provide all necessary diplomatic support to Cuba on the international stage. (CCTV News)
