ME News Report, April 2nd (UTC+8), Microsoft announced plans to develop large-scale cutting-edge artificial intelligence models next year to build internal solutions that replace OpenAI and Anthropic’s most powerful AI tools. Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman stated in an interview, “We must deliver technology at the absolute forefront. By 2027, the goal is for the models to truly reach the state-of-the-art level in text, image, and audio generation and response.” On Thursday, Microsoft AI launched a speech transcription model, which reportedly outperformed competitors in 11 out of 25 most commonly used languages in benchmark tests. However, similar to the company’s previous speech and image generation models, this model is a specialized tool optimized for efficiency, trained on less data than general-purpose models like Claude 3 Opus or OpenAI’s GPT-4. Suleyman said that Microsoft is integrating computing power to create more capable models, starting last October with a set of Nvidia GB200 chips to expand computational resources. He stated, “In the next 12 to 18 months, we will gradually advance to cutting-edge level computing capabilities.” (Jin10) (Source: ODAILY)
