CoinWorld News reports that the payment giant American Express has announced an accelerated expansion into the AI payments space and has launched a developer toolkit for “Agentic Commerce.” It pledges purchase protection for erroneous transactions generated by registered AI agents. The toolkit is designed to support AI agents in carrying out economic activities on behalf of users, such as payments, and—by only granting payment credentials to verified agents and verifying cardholder identities, among other measures—reduces fraud and dispute risks. In addition, American Express said it already has mature mechanisms for handling transaction disputes, which can provide safeguards against AI agents’ misoperations, thereby improving user trust and driving transaction volume growth. It has also developed “multiple plans” for stablecoins; it is reported that these plans—or exploration of stablecoin settlement scenarios rather than payments—have been considered, but no specific details have been disclosed.(Fortune)
