ME News report: On April 6 (UTC+8), U.S. President Trump threatened that if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened, he will strike Iran’s energy facilities. Affected by this, oil prices opened higher, with U.S. crude up 1.3% to $113 per barrel. Trump posted on Sunday morning, stating, “Tuesday will be Iran’s power plant and bridge day—get it all done at once. Absolutely unprecedented!!! Hurry up and open the strait.” A few hours later, he appeared to set a new deadline, “Tuesday, 8:00 PM Eastern Time in the U.S.! (8:00 AM Beijing time on April 8.)” Trump previously issued a similar two-day ultimatum to Iran on March 21, but later extended the deadline to April 6. (Source: PANews)
