On Friday, the Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index continued its upward trend, supported by rising Capesize ship freight rates. The Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index increased by 56 points, or 2.8%, to 2028 points. The index rose 0.9% this week. The Capesize ship freight index increased by 159 points, or 5.8%, to 2880 points. The index gained 9.5% this week. The daily profit for Capesize ships increased by $1,448, reaching $22,621. The Panamax ship freight index rose by 3 points, or 0.2%, to 1,838 points. The index declined by 6.3% this week. The daily profit for Panamax ships increased by $30, reaching $16,546. The Supramax bulk carrier freight index fell by 7 points, or 0.5%, to 1,283 points. The index decreased by 7.4% this week.
