BlockBeatNews

BlockBeats message: On Monday, March 31, local time, Iran’s parliament passed a bill to levy a toll on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The toll for an oil tanker could be as high as $2 million. According to Iranian media, citing comments from an official of Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, the new navigation control plan also includes banning vessels associated with the United States, Israel, or countries that had previously imposed unilateral sanctions on Iran from passing through the channel, while the transit fees must be paid in Iranian rials. Iran will work with Oman to develop the relevant legal framework. Shortly before the bill was approved, the White House said the United States does not support Iran’s collection of transit fees.
