Anthropic updates Claude subscription policy: starting April 5, third-party tools will no longer be supported

GateNews

Gate News report: On April 4, Anthropic announced that, starting April 5, Claude’s subscription service will no longer support the usage permissions of third-party tools such as OpenClaw. Anthropic said the existing subscription model was not designed for third-party tool use cases; this change is intended to prioritize the user experience for users who directly use Claude products and the API, in order to achieve sustainable growth. For current subscribers, Anthropic will provide a one-time credit compensation equal to that month’s subscription fee. Users can choose to purchase a discounted usage bundle or apply for a full refund by email.
