Recently, several fren with nearly a million in TradFi and internet Cryptocurrency Trading have asked me how to transition to Web3, and some are even willing to accept a very low salary to find opportunities.
1️⃣ The salaries in Web3 will definitely be higher than what they are in Web2. 2️⃣Working in Web3 allows you to get first-hand Cryptocurrency Trading information.
Regarding the first point, the Web3 salaries shared by many bloggers before can indeed make many ordinary people envious. But the fact is that Web3 jobs are gradually becoming more formalized and even starting to saturate. Large institutions and exchanges are beginning to look at education, experience, language proficiency, resumes, and resources, and they require a base overseas and adherence to KPI systems. The starting salary may only be around 5000-6000U. For project parties, you need to have good language proficiency, resources, and planning and management skills to secure a Senior position with a salary above 5000U, and it is unstable. What I am referring to mainly concerns companies led by Chinese people; purely overseas job opportunities are not as easy to find for Chinese individuals as imagined, and there are relatively few APAC positions available for pure mainland Chinese. Two real-life small cases: 1️⃣A certain third-tier exchange has started requiring HR to be bilingual as well. 2️⃣The management training position at the second-tier exchange Base Dubai has a salary of 6000U.
Regarding the second point, I believe that the key to first-hand Cryptocurrency Trading information lies not in where you work, but in what money you want to make and who you communicate with. The fact is that many of my friends working in Web3 live very happily on a fixed salary of 3000U without engaging in Cryptocurrency Trading. If you want to make money on-chain, you need to go and explore the chain and look at the trading strategies of on-chain Alpha bloggers. Although there are insider trades, even if you have inside information, without execution and a solid trading strategy, you won't be able to achieve the best results. If you want to make secondary money with large capital, then working in Web3 is definitely not a necessity.
Of course, I am very happy to see excellent partners wanting to come to Web3 to build together. This is a track full of opportunities and a bright future. However, trading and work are two different things. I love my job, and it provides me with a stable income. But trading will always depend on yourself. If you want to come here, first discard the illusion that working here will definitely make you rich.
