The Bitcoin sidechain Rootstock is advancing the BitVMX project, planning to release a development kit (SDKs) in the coming weeks to support developers in building Bitcoin layer two networks based on this computational layer. BitVMX is based on the BitVM design proposed by Robin Linus in 2023, aiming to achieve functionality similar to Ethereum smart contracts. Previously, RootstockLabs, FairGate.io, and Input Output formed a tripartite alliance “BitVMX Force”. Rootstock is currently developing the cross-chain bridge Union for Bitcoin and Rootstock based on BitVMX, while IO is researching asset migration between Bitcoin and Cardano. (CoinDesk)
