According to Reuters, the nonprofit organization Liberty Justice Center filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Court of International Trade on behalf of five U.S. small and medium-sized businesses to block the Trump administration’s sweeping tariffs on foreign trading partners, accusing the president of overstepping his authority. The lawsuit targets the April 2 “Liberation Day” tariffs and separate tariffs on China, saying they violate the Constitution and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), and asks the court to declare that Trump has no authority to impose the tariffs.
