JD issues coin for meal delivery, a gamble or a strategy?

Recently, JD.com has prominently issued the stablecoin JDG in Hong Kong, while also making a grand entry into the fiercely competitive food delivery market. If this is merely seen as ordinary business expansion, it would be too superficial. A closer look at its layout reveals a scenario of a "cornered beast still fighting back," as well as a "fight to the death."
First, let's talk about issuing stablecoins. On the surface, JD is under the banner of "technological innovation and convenient cross-border payments," but in fact, there are three deeper meanings:
First, it connects the veins of foreign capital. In recent years, mainland internet giants have been facing a tightening of financing channels, and Hong Kong, as an international financial center, is a natural springboard for JD.com to rescue itself through a backdoor listing. Issuing stablecoins is akin to laying an underground pipeline for itself, bypassing the constraints of traditional capital flows.
Second, betting on the new order of future trade. The trend of de-dollarization is gradually rising globally, and stablecoins, as a new species of digital finance, may become the "dark currency" of cross-border trade. This move by JD.com is both a form of "taking precautions before it rains" and a gamble on the "first-mover advantage under the new rules."
Thirdly, the new front of data hegemony. Whoever controls the trading medium, seizes a greater range of data sovereignty. JD's comprehensive control from product flow, payment flow to capital flow is aimed at securing a place in the future digital intelligence war.
As for the aggressive foray into food delivery, it seems shocking: with Meituan already dominating and Ele.me barely surviving in the cracks, how could a major e-commerce giant lower itself to gnaw on that slim profit, fiercely competitive bone? But from another perspective, this is actually a "forced breakthrough".
Under the Matthew effect, the growth of e-commerce traffic has already peaked, and new battlefields such as live broadcast e-commerce, community group buying, and instant retail have been launched. Meituan's instant delivery network in food delivery has become an irreplaceable infrastructure. If JD.com does not intervene, the closed loop of "instant retail + takeaway + home delivery" integration will be handed over to others in the future. It can be said that JD.com's move is in response to the so-called "Art of War": "The momentum is available, and it is with; If you can't get it, keep it. "Seeing that you can't hold it, you can only defend it by attacking.
At the same time, while the takeout industry appears "dirty, tiring, and bitter," it actually hides the last gold mine of high-frequency user scenarios. Having users means having a future; even if profit seems far away, JD still has to grit its teeth and "burn money to exchange for life," just as Li Bai said: "The great roc rises with the wind, soaring up to ninety thousand miles." If you don't fight for your life, how can you soar?
Overall, JD's issuance of coins and meal delivery appear to be two separate fronts, but they actually belong to the same grand strategy: on one hand, connecting with international capital, and on the other, solidifying the local user base; one side plans for the future currency landscape while the other competes for instant retail access. As the saying goes, "cultivating internal strength while plotting external ambitions," this can be seen as ambitious yet also a dilemma.
However, beneath the rapid advancement lies hidden concerns. Whether it is the regulatory risks of stablecoins or the fierce competition over delivery subsidies, these are not easy matters. If one acts too hastily, they may be troubled by external threats or internal strife, ultimately leading to a situation where "the clam and the snipe struggle, and the fisherman benefits," which remains uncertain.
To summarize this situation in the words of Zhuangzi: "The greatest sorrow is the death of the heart, and the death of a person is secondary to that." JD's actions still show a will to fight for survival, and have not yet reached the state of a dead heart. However, the trends of the world are determined by recognizing the right moment, and failure comes from reckless actions. Success or failure is still uncertain; we just have to wait for time to decide. #USDT 市值创新高
