Unknown individuals have compromised the interface of the crypto market data aggregator CoinMarketCap. On the main page, users saw a malicious pop-up window asking to "verify wallet".
"Upon discovery, we immediately took action to remove the problematic content, identified the root cause, and took comprehensive measures to isolate and resolve the issue. We can confirm that all systems are now fully operational and CoinMarketCap is safe and secure for users," the platform's team assured.
In 2021, hackers broke into CoinMarketCap and put a database with email addresses of 3.1 million accounts up for sale.
