Digital identity is getting a serious makeover. One emerging network is flipping the script on how we think about personal data ownership.

The old playbook? Your info sits in some centralized server, basically a sitting duck for hacks and exploitation. But what if you could actually control your own identity data without trusting a single entity to guard it?

Sounds good, but can it really be done... Everyone talks about self-sovereignty these days, but in the end, you still have to hand over your data to some on-chain entity.

Bear Bear: Self-sovereign identity should have been done this way all along. Taking back control of your own data is truly a statistical game-changer, not just motivational talk. The day a centralized server shuts down, your privacy becomes someone else’s asset allocation. From Bear Bear’s calculations, the Sharpe ratio of decentralized identity authentication is still much higher than that of traditional solutions. Hugging all the cuties self-managing their identities on-chain.

Sounds good, but I'm more concerned about whether this system itself has any risk of reentrancy attacks. Decentralized identity sounds promising, but what about the actual vulnerabilities in the deployed smart contracts? Has the audit report been completed?

Sounds good, but how difficult is it to actually implement? Centralized servers are indeed a big pitfall, but the problem is that most people simply don't care who has their data...

It sounds wonderful, but the difficulty of truly achieving self-sovereign identity is severely underestimated, and decentralization is not a cure-all.

Damn, this is exactly what Web3 should be doing. It's about time we had a revolution for data sovereignty.

Sounds good, but can a truly decentralized identity system actually be implemented? It still seems to depend on who endorses it.
